If your HS offers it, definitely take drafting courses. Otherwise, focus on geometry and art classes for the design aspects. Vocational courses, although they seem below most, offer students an opportunity to learn by doing and reading drafted documents to produce tangible results. The best translation of this would come into play by reading specifications and turning them into a drafted blueprint, from an architecture standpoint.

Art class..math class..science class...business class

Art: so you can understand designs, shapes, textures, building materials.
Math: so you can do the figures for measurements and basic math computations.
Science: gravity issues and how the weather can work against your buildings. I.E. tornados and earthquakes
Business: If you want to be your own boss, you'll need to know the tricks of the trade to run your own business.

I'd head to your local university as well and speak with a professor or counselor to help you formulate your educational path better.
