Some started new and vise versa. now in Germany there are post1945complexes and pre1945complexes. St. Paul's Cathedral was saved only because some (very) brave men extinguished a fire that was blazing on the dome. --Alexandria Library: half a million documents and books were burned--considered "the biggest cultural loss in time of war" from the last 2,000 years.
